Clean Up Australia: Skip Bin Hire Makes Messy Jobs Easier

Posted on

You might have a yard to clean, trees to prune, or you might be building a new driveway. Before you do any of these jobs, you need to think about the time and hassle this is going to cause you when it comes to waste disposal. Skip bin hire takes the hassle out of messy, hard jobs in your yard.

The skip guy delivers the skip bin to your place, sets it up where you want it to be, and comes to pick it up on an agreed date when you have filled it with junk. It sounds easy, right? Well, it is, provided you think about one or two key things first.

The size of the job.

There is nothing worse than getting halfway through a massive pruning and/or landscaping project and realising you have nowhere to put the rubbish because you underestimated the size of the skip bin you required. Skip bin hires come in a range of sizes, which are sometimes grouped into 'small' and 'large'.

Small could mean anything from a two cubic metre to four cubic metre capacity, which equates to between three and six standard 6x4 trailer loads. On the other hand, large skip bins range from six cubic metres to ten cubic metres, or between nine and 15 trailer loads.

The types of material you are disposing.

If what you are dumping in the skip is general garden or household construction waste, then a skip is ideal. Skips companies will happily remove bricks, trees, grass clippings, timber, gravel, tiles and so on from your property.  However, they will not take asbestos, paint, tyres, hazardous waste, gas bottles, batteries, oils, or food.

In essence, skip hire companies do not want materials that are dangerous to their staff.  Additionally, other items may potentially either damage the skip (battery acid, for example) or affect the environment if just tossed into the skip and then into the local landfill.

So, outside of these two guidelines comes a very basic rule of thumb: if it is "normal" construction waste, hire a skip, but make sure it is big enough. Before hiring someone, call them to verify that your waste materials are safe for them to take away. They could also suggest where to dispose the rest of the items.

It really is that simple, so next time you are considering a major remodel of the house, or find it's time for Spring cleaning, hire a skip.  It's easy, convenient, and will not let you down.
